In the final innings of the third game of the recently finished series between Australia and the West Indies, Scott Boland achieved the first hat-trick in pink-ball Test cricket. He cleaned up the tail to give Australia a series-ending victory of 176 runs. Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood bowled much of the bowling, and Boland’s stats in two overs were 3/2, including a maiden.
Scott Boland achieved this fantastic milestone in the fourteenth over of the West Indies’ victories.
Beau Webster did the rest at second slip after Justin Greaves (11 off 24) edged an incoming ball on the fourth stump. Boland then secured the 49th hat-trick in red-ball international history when Shamar Joseph and Jomel Warrican were dismissed on their respective golden ducks.

In relation to the match, Australia won by 176 runs at Kingston’s Sabina Park. In the fourth innings, they set a target of 204 for the hosts to pursue, but they were bowled out for a pitiful 27. One of the main architects of the collapse was Mitchell Starc. In his 100th Test match, the left-arm bowler finished with figures of 6/9 in 7.3 overs. His incredible bowling performance in Jamaica also saw him surpass the 400-wicket mark.
Starc set the tone for the Pat Cummins-led team with three wickets in the opening over. His fastest five-wicket haul in Test cricket history (15 balls OR 2.3 overs) further cemented his place in the record books. Josh Hazlewood also took a wicket. The Australians put up a genuinely dominant performance, ultimately defeating the Roston Chase-led team to start their 2025–27 WTC on a high note.
The teams will now play a five-match Twenty20 International match. Both nations have won the T20 World Cup twice and will be looking to compete for the fans’ attention. Speaking of that, the team captained by Pat Cummins will now play a Test series when they play England in the 2025 Ashes, which is scheduled to start in November with the first match taking place at Perth’s Optus Stadium. On the other side, Windies have nothing planned.
