Because he has scored so many runs in the past three years, Sarfaraz Khan should be given a chance: Sourv Ganguly

The decision not to include batsman Sarfaraz Khan on India’s team for the upcoming West Indies Test series has caused a lot of uproar in the cricket world. Now, former India captain Sourav Ganguly has come out in support of Sarfaraz. He thinks that the 25-year-old batter should be called up to the Test team because of how well he has done in local cricket.

Even though the Mumbai batter has done very well in local cricket over the past few years, he hasn’t been picked for the national team.

Other young players, like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal, got their first call-ups, which made the debate about Sarfaraz Khan absence even bigger.

Ganguly said that Jaiswal was chosen because he scored a lot of runs in the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, and Duleep Trophy. The 50-year-old supported Sarfaraz Khan and said that he should be given a chance to play for the national team because he has scored so many runs in the last three years.

“I think Yashasvi Jaiswal has made a lot of runs in the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, and Duleep Trophy. I think that’s why he’s in the team. I feel for Sarfaraz Khan. Ganguly was reported by Sportskeeda as saying, “He should get a chance at some point for all the runs he’s scored in the last three years.”

In the future, Abhimanyu Easwaran should be given a chance: Ganguly, the former head of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), used Abhimanyu Easwaran as another example and said he was also surprised that he wasn’t on the list. He also said that in the future, Easwaran and Sarfaraz should be given a chance. The 50-year-old says that Jaiswal is a great choice for the future tour.

“Abhimanyu Easwaran is in the same boat because he has scored a lot of runs in the last five to six years. I’m shocked that they were both left out, but they should get another chance in the future. But Yashasvi Jaiswal is a good choice,” he went on to say.
