Sarfaraz Khan’s acquisition by Chennai Super Kings for his base price of INR 75.00 lakh in the expedited round of the IPL 2026 Mini-Auction was akin to a rebirth in the Indian Premier League. Despite his outstanding exploits on the home circuit, the right-handed hitter had not seen the light of day in the lucrative event. But now that Sarfaraz has settled in Chepauk, the benefits have finally been realised.
Sarfaraz Khan is eager to play and develop under the tutelage of the renowned wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni, much like the rest of the CSK team. With the 2026 season starting on March 26 and the five-time winners vying for a record-breaking sixth title, he added that he is getting impatient with meeting everyone in the CSK dressing room.
“Thank you so much, CSK, for providing me with this chance. And I consider myself really fortunate to be playing with Mahi bhai [MS Dhoni]. I’m eager to join you all soon and hope to learn a lot. Sarfaraz Khan was heard stating, “Thank you so much for giving me a new life,” in a video that CSK posted from their official social media account.

Regarding Sarfaraz Khan IPL career, the Mumbai batter has previously played for teams like Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite having scored 585 runs in 50 league games throughout the years, he has not yet reached his full potential as a useful top-order hitter. He intends to be a key member of the Chennai-based team in the next season of the premier league.
Sarfaraz Khan, who played for Mumbai in the just finished Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, had excellent batting form by smashing 329 runs in only seven innings, including an undefeated century and three half-centuries. The 28-year-old’s performance in the forthcoming season is still to be determined, despite his current form.
