Indian cricketer Sanju Samson, who was born in Trivandrum, received a request to go to a press conference to announce the first Kerala Cricket League season. He received an invitation in his role as a chief guest and a respected honorary state member, arranged by the Kerala Cricket Association.
One of the many questions that a journalist asked Sanju Samson during the event concerned the selectors’ choice to ignore him after he scored an incredible 108 runs off 114 balls in his last match before the ODI series against Sri Lanka, which ended in a win over the Proteas in Paarl. Sanju Samson answered the question in Malayalam, stating that his basic code of conduct was to always perform well if chosen by the committee.
He was adamant about this. He reiterated that he thought it was important to keep an eye on the bigger picture, saying that as long as the team was winning, it was enough. Samson added that he tried to control and affect the things he could control, maintaining an optimistic attitude and constantly refining his efforts.
“Whenever they choose to, I’ll just go play. That’s it! Ultimately, our team is performing well. I consider myself to be someone who believes in a greater cause. Samson answered the issue asked to him by saying, “I just try to take things positively under controllable circumstances and put up the efforts.”

India won by 78 runs to complete a 2-1 series victory in the game in which Samson scored his first-ever ODI century. Samson’s Sri Lankan tour was skipped by the selectors in favour of Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, despite this outstanding performance.
