Sanju Samson’s Form Under Scanner

Even though the wicketkeeper-batter is having trouble scoring runs, former India opener and analyst Aakash Chopra thinks Sanju Samson might still be given more chances in the current T20I series against New Zealand. After recovering his place in the playing XI from Shubman Gill, Samson’s poor run, which included a golden duck in the third Twenty20 International, has once again put it in doubt.

After a string of lacklustre batting efforts, Sanju Samson position in the team has been hotly contested due to his incredibly poor performances thus far in the series.

The Kerala cricketer’s place in the team has become a topic of conversation due to the fierce battle for the keeper-batter position and the impressive batting performance of comeback man Ishan Kishan.

Chopra has hinted that the team management may be tempted to grant Samson one or two more games in light of India’s lineup and forthcoming matches. This comes after Tilak Varma was left out of the last two Twenty20 Internationals since he did not recuperate in time.

“Tilak Varma may not be able to play in these two matches, which means he will join the team before to the World Cup. This is fantastic since it gives Sanju Samson two more chances. Ishan Kishan and Sanju will now be playing. Sanju’s house is the venue for one of the games. On his YouTube channel, Chopra stated, “It’s in Thiruvananthapuram.”

“He needed two more chances because it’s unjust and he might not be facing this pressure now if we hadn’t changed course at the Asia Cup and Sanju had continued to open. You would have either gone out or been a hero if he had continued to open. There are two more games, which is fantastic news for Sanju Samson and his supporters,” he continued.

The well-known pundit went on to say that no one should doubt the Sanju Samson ability because he has had the opportunity to demonstrate it. He did note, though, that when the wicketkeeper-batter starts to struggle, he starts to get out with a run of poor scores, which eventually affects the team’s ability to stay at the top.

“While it’s true that Sanju is having difficulties, no one can truly disagree or protest that full chances weren’t given. We can obviously see that. He is out to full deliveries and getting beaten when he goes deep into the crease. It has occurred in three straight innings. Sanju experiences this. The Agra native came to the conclusion that “he keeps getting out cheaply when he gets out.”

The Indian team, who have already won the series 3-0, will play the fifth and final game at Thiruvananthpuram, the hometown of Sanju Samson, before playing the fourth match in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday, January 28.
