The rumors around Sanju Samson‘s transfer between the Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals appear to be coming to an end. According to the most recent information, RR will add CSK all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to their lineup in order to cut Samson before the 2026 Indian Premier League season.
According to a recent media source, both teams have spoken with every player involved in the trade agreement and are prepared to submit an expression of interest to the IPL governing council on the matter. It will rank among the most significant trade agreements in the history of the lucrative tournament if it is approved.
“The IPL governing council must receive an expression of interest from both RR and CSK listing the three players involved in the transfer. According to the trading regulations, the teams can proceed with further negotiations for a definitive agreement after receiving the players’ written assent, which will also be approved by the governing council,” ESPNcricinfo stated in its most recent report.
Interestingly, Sanju Samson has played for RR ever since making his debut in 2012. Sanju Samson only found a home with another team during the two-year suspension in 2016 and 2017, when he played for the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals). Jadeja is no different. He and the team have a long history together, and in 2023 he even briefly captained the team.
Curran, on the other hand, spent the rest of his IPL career with CSK, which took off in 2019, after briefly playing for Punjab Kings. The English all-round player has recently become more well-known, earning a spot back in the national team and leading his team in the Hundred Men’s competition.
Which player, Sanju Samson or MS Dhoni, will be the CSK wicketkeeper?
One of the reasons CSK is interested in adding players like Sanju Samson to their roster before the forthcoming season is that he is a leadership candidate and gives the great MS Dhoni a wicketkeeper-batter’s alternative. Samson has two real match-winning all-rounders against him.
Although Dhoni’s knee problems signal he might only play as an Impact Substitute, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that he will play in the 2026 season. In the second half of the 2025 season, he captained CSK after Ruturaj Gaikwad was sidelined by a fractured shoulder. He will, however, revert to his specialty as the Maharashtra batsman is anticipated to take the team’s lead once more.
