In the wicketkeeping department, the Indian team has a number of possibilities who have already shown their abilities. Dhruv Jurel, a 23-year-old rising star in the team, was signed by the Rajasthan Royals for an incredible INR 14 crore before the 2025 IPL season and has already shown some outstanding performances in his early international career.
Although it was unexpected that Jurel would be kept in Rajasthan instead of major international players like Jos Buttler and Yuzvendra Chahal, it appears that RR captain Sanju Samson and head coach Rahul Dravid have made a somewhat stronger decision for the Agra native.
Sanju Samson has really stated quite frankly that he is willing to give up wicketkeeping for Jurel since it will guarantee his spot in the Test team and give him the additional responsibility.
“I didn’t say this live. We sympathise with the players, as I have stated. I believe that we feel Dhruv Jurel, who has been a Test wicketkeeper throughout his career. At some time, he must also don the gloves in the Indian Premier League,” Samson stated in an interview with AB De Villiers on the latter’s YouTube channel.
It was discussed that both of us would be sharing gloves. During the BGT warm-up games, Dhruv Jurel was among the top batters and has already demonstrated outstanding performance for India in the longest format. Apart from that, his average in First-Class cricket is 45.74 and in Test cricket it is 40.40. At an overall strike rate of 151.53, he has amassed 347 runs in the 27 IPL games that he has participated in.
