Sanju Samson

The selection committee’s choice to include Sanju Samson in the forthcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa has received plaudits from Harbhajan Singh. He was excited to see young players like Tilak Varma, Rajat Patidar, Samson, and Deepak Chahar take advantage of the 50-over format. Samson was picked ahead of Suryakumar Yadav for the Proteas series, which was an interesting selection considering that he averaged over 55 in 12 ODI innings.

Yadav’s 2023 World Cup campaign was a letdown, as he scored just 106 runs at an unimpressive average of 17.66 over seven innings. This led to a review of his selection. The wicketkeeper batsman has had sporadic appearances for the Indian team, but his last ODI match was in the West Indies in August. He then played in the T20Is in Ireland. He was a constant presence, but he was unable to earn a berth in the World Cup roster.

The news is favorable for the batter who keeps making wickets because people are continuously asking why Samson isn’t getting selected. The fact that Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Rajat Patidar are receiving opportunities makes me glad. “Deepak Chahar has returned,” Harbhajan posted on his YouTube page.

Harbhajan Singh expresses unhappiness with Yashasvi Jaiswal‘s ODI omission.

The ‘turbanator’ was upset that Yashasvi Jaiswal, a talented left-handed opener, had not been included in the three-match ODI series and felt that he should have been included. He took issue with the selection process for failing to include Jaiswal, who has not yet made an ODI debut. Jaiswal has scored 266 runs at an average of 88.66 in two Test matches, including two hundreds and a half-century. He has also scored 312 runs in 11 T20I matches, including two hundreds and a century.

“Let us discuss Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is not a member of this group. He ought to be on this team [ODIs], in my opinion. [He is] an excellent and outstanding player. In Tests and T20Is, the team is watching him; in ODIs, however, they are not. I can’t believe how many problems there are in the selecting process,” he continued.
