The selection committee’s choice to include Sanju Samson in the forthcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa has received plaudits from Harbhajan Singh. Samson was picked ahead of Suryakumar Yadav for the Proteas series, which was an interesting selection considering that he averaged over 55 in 12 ODI innings.

He took issue with the selection process for failing to include Jaiswal, who has not yet made an ODI debut. Jaiswal has scored 266 runs at an average of 88.66 in two Test matches, including two hundreds and a half-century. He has also scored 312 runs in 11 T20I matches, including two hundreds and a century.
“Let us discuss Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is not a member of this group. He ought to be on this team [ODIs], in my opinion. [He is] an excellent and outstanding player. In Tests and T20Is, the team is watching him; in ODIs, however, they are not. I can’t believe how many problems there are in the selecting process,” he continued.
