Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), has been linked to the Delhi Capitals (DC), the team he played for for two seasons in the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to a number of unverified rumors. After Aakash Chopra, a former cricket player for India, made remarks, the rumour spread.
Sanju Samson next destination is still unknown, despite the fact that the wicketkeeper-batter is anticipated to depart Rajasthan, according to Chopra’s analysis of the scenario. He suggested that DC would be a possible destination because they are one of the few teams that can afford Samson’s high INR 18 crore price tag.
“You can either go for an all-cash deal or trade a good Indian player for another Indian who is equally good,” Chopra stated on his YouTube channel.
Few top Indian players of Sanju Samson’s caliber are up for trade, and South African batsman Tristan Stubbs has surfaced as a possible target. It is believed that RR first tried to negotiate a trade with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Ravindra Jadeja, but the offer was rejected. If RR were to pursue Stubbs instead, they would have to pay about INR 8 crore, which is a significant amount less than Samson’s INR 18 crore estimate.
Sanju Samson allegedly told the team that he was leaving after an exciting eight-season second spell with RR.
He achieved his first IPL century while playing for the Delhi-based team (the Delhi Daredevils back then) in 2016 and 2017 while RR was suspended.
Is DC going to trade KL Rahul?
The name of Indian Test opener KL Rahul has also come up in trade talks. However, considering his impressive results from the previous season and high brand value, DC is apparently hesitant to let him go. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who see Rahul as a dependable top-order batsman and seasoned captain, are still interested in signing him.
The team is counting on Rahul and Abhishek Nayar, the new head coach of KKR, having a tight relationship. However, at the moment, KKR doesn’t seem like a tradeable commodity that would entice Delhi to make a deal.
