Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), is questionable for Saturday, April 19, when the club plays the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). After suffering an injury during the most recent game against the Delhi Capitals (DC), the wicketkeeper is still awaiting scan findings.
In RR’s final game on Wednesday, the right-handed batter retired injured after scoring 31 runs off of 19 balls due to what appeared to be a side strain. The physio examined the left side of the RR captain’s rib after he seemed uncomfortable after trying to cut a ball from Vipraj Nigam. Despite facing the subsequent delivery, he quickly retired with injuries. In a thrilling Super Over, RR ultimately lost the match.
Sanju Samson felt some discomfort in the middle of her abdomen.
We have therefore gone for scans. We are awaiting the results of the scans that he completed today. Head coach Rahul Dravid stated on Friday, as reported by ESPNcricinfo, “We’ll make a decision moving forward and we’ll see what happens once we get a bit more clarity around the scans and the severity of [the injury].”
After getting certified by the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, the 30-year-old cricket player returned to action after playing in the first three RR games as an Impact Player. Dhruv Jurel took over as RR’s wicketkeeper while he was out following finger surgery last month.
Riyan Parag took over as captain while Sanju Samson was not present. Under Parag’s direction, RR defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) but lost their opening two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). RR is now in ninth place on the points standings after suffering three straight losses after two victories.
