Sanju Samson becomes joint 7th fastest India batter to complete 7000 T20 runs

South Africa and India’s ongoing series came to a jubilant conclusion with the visitors’ maiden Twenty20 International. On Friday, November 8, Proteas and India faced off in the opening Twenty20 International at Kingsmead in Durban. Batting first, the Indian team bundled out the hosts for 141 in the second innings after scoring 202 runs in the first.

India took the series lead with a 61-run victory and will look to add another strong performance in the second Twenty20 International. The series began with Sanju Samson, the standout batsman for India, winning the opening game. As he continued his incredible run of form in the format, Samson opened the innings for the Men in Blue with 107 runs in 50 deliveries.

Samson had surpassed former India captain MS Dhoni to reach a significant milestone with his century. Samson beat MS Dhoni to reach 7000 runs in T20 cricket, becoming him the seventh-fastest batsman from India with his 107-run innings.

It is important to remember that Samson reached the 7000-run barrier in just 269 innings, while MS Dhoni needed 305 innings to reach the target. Samson and former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa are level at 269 innings, while KL Rahul is at the top of the list after the star batsman reached 7000 T20 runs in 197 innings.

I had a great time in the centre. Sanju Samson

Speaking about his knock from the game, Sanju Samson grabbed front stage following the first Twenty20 International match against South Africa. Reflecting on his aggressive style, the star batter said he had fun while batting during the game.

I had a great time in the centre. If you will, I’m playing it well, making the most of my current shape. Keeping the team ahead of yourself and being aggressive have been the main points of our conversation. After you’ve played three or four balls, you’re searching for the boundary.

I’m not thinking much about it; sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m glad it went well today,” Samson was cited as saying.
