Sanjay Manjrekar, a former cricket player, has stated his belief that Shubman Gill will score a lot of runs during the forthcoming Test match against England at Old Trafford in Manchester.
Shubman, the Indian team’s captain, had a quiet game at Lord’s, getting out for 16 and 6 in his two innings. India now trails the five-match series 1-2 after losing the third Test by 22 runs. According to Manjrekar, Gill would benefit from the eight-day gap between the third and fourth Tests, which would allow him to regroup and think.
“I think he’s capable of maintaining his form. Perhaps he will reflect on the previous conflict and talk to his father and friends during this break. All he has to do is concentrate on his batting, fielding, tactics, and captaincy. According to India Today, Manjrekar told JioHotstar, “I think the run-making machine that was once in motion is well-oiled and will start running again at Old Trafford if he does that.”
Despite Shubman limited contribution, Manjrekar noted that the squad did reasonably well in the first innings.
He viewed this as a good lesson, indicating that the batting lineup displayed promising traits even in the absence of a standout performance from a specific player.
“His influence is significant, but India will also consider the fact that Shubman did not contribute with the bat in the third Test match at Lord’s. India’s batting lineup was still able to compete with England in spite of this. We are not totally reliant on Gill, so that’s a good lesson to learn,” Manjrekar continued.
In the current Test series against England, Shubman continues to be the most impressive player. The 25-year-old has been in what may be his greatest form since becoming the leadership, topping the run-scoring rankings with 607 runs from three games. His outstanding efforts of 269 and 161 in the two innings at Edgbaston, Birmingham, followed his outstanding 147 at Headingley, Leeds, to start the series. It is expected that the Indian skipper will try to recover, particularly because India wants to tie the series.
