Sanjay Manjrekar and Tom Moody select Pakistani athletes who could have been IPL leaders.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recently won their fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) championship by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT) with an exhilarating last-ball victory at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad in the sixteenth season’s final match. The competition is the most prestigious franchise cricket tournament in the world and features some of the best players. Sadly, Pakistani players were only permitted to participate in the league during its inaugural season in 2008; due to the hostile political relations between the two countries, Pakistani players have not been eligible to compete since then.

Tom Moody and Sanjay Manjrekar, two former cricketers, discussed Pakistan players who, in a perfect world, would have secured IPL contracts. While Moody was confident that Men in Green pacer Shaheen Afridi would be one of the top selections, he also mentioned Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan as players who would have commanded a hefty price at the auctions.

“Shaheen Afridi, Babar Azam, Rizwan and Shadab Khan. They possess a number of exceptional athletes, particularly in this format. Shaheen would be your No. 1 choice; he would be a box office draw, according to ESPNcricinfo’s Tom Moody.

Manjrekar suggested IPL teams would target Haris Rauf, who could be an opportune alternative in the death overs. He even mentioned Fakhar Zaman as a possible target for the team’s surveillance.

“Haris Rauf is one of the greatest death bowlers. I am more concerned with their bowlers than their batsmen. However, Fakhar Zaman would be an intriguing option for some teams. Rizwan is the person who performs the role of the anchor. When Babar and Rizwan bat together, I occasionally worry, as Sanjay Manjrekar said.

The IPL 2008 featured players such as Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, Shoaib Malik, Karman Akmal, Misbah-ul-Haq, and Mohammad Asif.
