On Monday, September 30, in Green Park, Kanpur, during Day 4 of the second Test, India destroyed Bangladesh’s bowling assault. Sanjay Manjrekar praised Rohit Sharma‘s mentality. India decided to attempt and force a result from the Test match in order to earn crucial World Test Championship (WTC) points after more than two days of cricket were lost due to rain and a damp outfield.
On Day 4, it took the Indian bowlers less than forty overs to remove the final seven Bangladeshi wickets. Mominul Haque hammered a century, but the tourists were bowled out for 233. Then, with their flamboyant batting, captain Rohit and Yashasvi Jaiswal took the Bangladeshi bowlers to task, and India came out swinging. They gave the hosts a head start by scoring 55 runs off of just 24 balls. Rohit scored 23 runs off of 11 balls in a daring cameo that included one four and three sixes. Virat Kohli, Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and KL Rahul all scored fast runs as India reached 285/9 in 34.4 overs.
Manjrekar was all over the Indian batting effort, referring to it as a “champion’s approach” that Sharma had instilled in the team.
“As captain, Rohit Sharma will leave this legacy behind. He thinks in this way. A formidable team—among the top two teams in the world—also demonstrated the champion’s mindset, acknowledging the significant amount of time that has passed. And as he shown in the 50-overs World Cup, he leads by example. Thus, Manjrekar continued, “This is what Rohit Sharma will leave behind as his contribution to Indian cricket.”

Manjrekar, a former cricketer for India, acknowledged that Rohit was prepared to risk his wicket in order to achieve rapid runs, and he praised Rohit’s determination to prioritise the team’s needs over his own.
“You play to win and do something solely for the team. He doesn’t mind the procedure, just like during the World Cup for 50-overs… He didn’t receive a high score on that kind of thing.
