Sandeep Sharma, a fast bowler for the Rajasthan Royals, has been ruled out of the rest of the 2025 Indian Premier League due to a fractured finger, the team announced on Thursday, May 1. “He showed immense bravery to continue bowling with this injury in the last match and everyone at the franchise wishes him a full and speedy recovery,” a release from the Royals stated.
While trying to field a Shubman Gill hit off his own bowling during the Royals’ home match against the Gujarat Titans, Sandeep, 31, sustained the injury. After receiving immediate medical attention from the team’s physiotherapist, the bowler proceeded to bowl the final eight balls of his spell. The Royals, who are still in the running for the playoffs as of this writing, have suffered a serious setback to their chances.
Before Akash Madhwal had to take his place in the playing XII for the match against the Mumbai Indians, Sandeep Sharma claimed nine wickets from ten games at an economy rate of 9.89.
His successor is being finalised by the Royals’ club management and will be announced soon, according to the announcement.
