Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, discussed his unique strategy for handling young players like Suryavanshi.
Regarding the following season of the Indian Premier League, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is one of the players to watch. In November 2024, at the age of 13, he made history by becoming the youngest player to be put up for auction in the IPL 2025 super auction. In the end, the Rajasthan Royals acquired him for INR 1.1 crore.
“In my opinion, I would rather watch a child first to see how he wants to play cricket, what he enjoys, and what kind of help he needs from me than to offer advise. I then figure out how to get around that. At the academy, Vaibhav was hitting sixes out of the ground, and he exudes confidence. His use of force was already being discussed. What more is there to ask for? Samson told JioHotstar, “It’s all about knowing his strengths, supporting him, and being there for him like an older brother.”
In a few more years, he might play for India: Samson
Samson went on to say that Suryavanshi was more than capable of competing in the IPL and that he even believed his skill may get him into the national setup in a few years.
“Keeping him in top condition and creating a laid-back atmosphere—two things the Rajasthan Royals are renowned for—are crucial. We support our players and make sure the dressing room is a good place. In a few years, he might play for India, but you never know. He seems ready for the IPL, in my opinion. He appears to be able to throw a couple good blows here and there. “Let’s see what the future brings,” Samson continued.
At Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, RR will play Sunrisers Hyderabad in the afternoon to kick off their IPL 2025 campaign. On Sunday, March 23, the game is set to start at 3:30 pm (IST).
