Sam Curran apologises to fans as PBKS crashes out of the IPL 2024, saying, "We will keep fighting."

Following the five-time champion Mumbai Indians, the Punjab Kings became the second side to exit the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. The Kings’ most recent encounter against Royal Challengers Bengaluru resulted in their eighth loss of the season in 12 games, meaning they were eliminated from the tournament’s knockout stages.

The batsmen for PBKS gave it their all as they attempted to chase down an enormous goal of 242 runs, but RCB crushed the team by 60 runs at Dharamshala. In the end, though, it was still insufficient.

Following their elimination from the competition, stand-in captain Sam Curran of the Punjab Kings apologised to the supporters on behalf of the team, saying that they would try to learn from the setback and go forward.

We experienced both record runs and highs. We apologise to the supporters and are really disappointed, but we’ll keep going. At the post-match presentation ceremony, Sam Curran stated, “The ups and downs have been pretty tough, but you gotta keep learning and working hard.”

There are many encouraging signals all season long: Sam Curran

Additionally, Sam Curran discussed the season’s numerous positives and how much of an honour it has been for him to captain the Punjab Kings team. He also emphasised how critical it was that they maintain a proud demeanour.

“The season has shown a lot of encouraging indicators, but sadly, not enough to cross the finish line. We were devastated for the team and believed we had the strongest side for the remainder of the competition. We must continue to learn, grow, and maintain our composure. I would have welcomed a couple more victories, but overall, I had a terrific time leading this group of guys,” Curran said.

Punjab Kings are out of the IPL 2024 group stages, but they still have two games remaining. The team’s upcoming matches are scheduled to take place in Guwahati on May 15 against the Rajasthan Royals and in Hyderabad on May 19 against the SRH.
