Mohammed Siraj was jeered by the Australian supporters during the Gabba’s third Test match against India. The International Cricket Council subsequently sanctioned both sportsmen following a furious altercation between Travis Head and the Indian pacer during the second Test match in Adelaide. After the match, the players embraced, and the Australia international said he was over the incident. However, the Gabba fans didn’t forget, as the pacer was booed loudly when bowling.

In the meanwhile, India chose to bowl first in the third Test after winning the toss. Early in the game, the Australian team had little issue handling the Indian pacers despite the green wicket and cloudy conditions forcing captain Rohit Sharma to bowl. Although Usman Khawaja, who was having trouble with form, appeared to be in fantastic shape, it remains to be seen how he can convert his strong start.
Meanwhile, since an early lunch was scheduled on Day 1, the rain has spoilt things twice. Rain is predicted to disrupt the game on all five days, so the teams will need to adjust their preparations appropriately. Both teams are vying for a berth in the World Test Championship final, and the winner of the Gabba Test will take a significant lead in the series, which is now tied at one.
For the Gabba Test, the visitors made two adjustments in the interim.
Akash Deep has returned to the playing XI, replacing Harshit Rana, who had trouble during the Day-Night Test. In addition, Ravichandran Ashwin was replaced by Ravindra Jadeja by the team management. It’s interesting to note that India chose Jadeja for the third game, Ashwin for the second, and Washington Sundar for the first.
In contrast, Australia only made one alteration to their starting lineup. After missing the second Test due to a side strain, Josh Hazlewood is back. In the starting lineup, the pacer took Scott Boland’s place.
