Following a thrilling four-wicket victory in their opening match of the Super Four stage on Saturday, September 20, Bangladesh’s Saif Hassan has voiced faith that his team will advance to the Asia Cup 2025 final. After scoring 61 runs and making a few catches, Hassan was named Player of the Match.
Instead of focussing just on the final goal, Saif Hassan spin-bowling all-rounder acknowledged that the team will be trying to take things one step at a time. The Tigers will play on September 24 against India and September 25 against Pakistan.
“Yes, we are certain that we will make it to the final. Everyone thought we were going to play the final before we came here. Even though we have two more matches to go, we are already one step ahead, and we will only be concentrating on the next one. Undoubtedly, one should have high dreams, but we should take things one step at a time.
Cricbuzz cited Saif Hassan as saying, “Our next focus will be fully on the match against India, and the match after that will be seen later.”
Bangladesh has finished second in the Asia Cup three times (in 2012, 2016, and 2018) and has never won the tournament. The Tigers might secure a spot in the summit match if they win even one of their next two games.
Regarding the match against Sri Lanka, several Bangladeshi players took the pitch. In their allocated 20 overs, Mustafizur Rahman (3/20 in 4 overs) and Mahedi Hasan (2/25 in 4 overs) did a fantastic job of containing the run flow and holding Sri Lanka to 168/7. Towhid Hridoy (58 off 37) also played a crucial knock in addition to Saif Hassan (61 off 45).
