Sai Sudharsan Learns A Lot About Game Awareness From Shubman Gill

Sai Sudharsan has transformed from an up-and-coming talent to a dependable run bank during the past four IPL seasons, contributing significantly to the Gujarat Titans’ triumph. In the IPL, the left-hander has already put up some amazing stats, hitting 141.70 and scoring 1220 runs at 48.80.

The left-hander has averaged 62.7 while playing for GT and has developed a strong connection with Shubman Gill at the top of the order. Last year against the Chennai Super Kings, the two scored 210 runs together, demonstrating their amazing friendship.

Speaking candidly about his collaboration with Gill, Sai Sudharsan said he is picking up a lot of game awareness knowledge from the seasoned veteran.

“Shubman [Gill] and I have a great relationship. It’s growing stronger every day, and I’m picking up a lot of knowledge from him about batting, game awareness, and the discussions we have on the pitch and in practice. He has taught me a lot, I believe, and I’m always working to get better in that regard,” Sai Sudharsan told the Times of India.

As an opener in the powerplay, the left-hander has been in perfect form, scoring 350 runs at an average of 87.5 and getting out just four times. Jos Buttler’s explosiveness at number three, according to Sai Sudharsan, has allowed the left-hander to play his natural style.

To tell the truth, I was overjoyed to learn that I was opening. Additionally, when we have a powerful opener like Jos Buttler, I feel a little more confident now that they have given me that duty,” he continued.

“Knowing that we have a lot of batting depth and experienced batters pursuing me gave me a lot of confidence and freedom.” I believe that has therefore allowed me greater freedom to express myself.

After four appearances in the two white-ball forms, Sai Sudharsan has already been promoted to India’s limited-overs team. However, the dream of the Test remains alive.

“Obviously, playing Test cricket is the goal. I believe that in order to accomplish your goals, you must have really lofty dreams. I’m thinking about the IPL and taking baby steps right now, but why not? “I would definitely love to equip myself to play in those conditions and give the country my best effort,” he thought.

When the Tamil Nadu player was selected for the India “A” team for the tour of Australia, he scored 103 in MacKay, giving him a taste of what it’s like to play in a foreign environment.

Since we only have five to seven days to adapt and try to score runs when we play outside of India, the exposure we receive is priceless. In light of the wicket’s behaviour and the current circumstances, I believe that the adaptation component is getting better. I believe the flexibility we acquired there is very helpful to us when we travel to India, performing in Delhi or other cities after leaving Chennai.
