Sai Sudharsan‘s performances with the Gujarat Titans (GT) during the last three Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons have impressed both fans and experts. He is the 2022 champions’ second-highest run scorer, only surpassed by captain Shubman Gill.
But the southpaw’s aggressive attitude from the beginning has been the most notable aspect of the league’s current 18th edition. He claimed that in order to shift his perspective and start playing attacking cricket this season, he worked really hard behind the scenes.
In IPL 2024, Sai Sudharsan admitted that he took a while to get going.
“I was a little slow in several innings last year. Additionally, our pitches differed slightly from the others. Furthermore, there were no outstanding starts due to the team’s circumstances. I was unable to provide strong beginnings, and we continued to lose wickets. “I took a while to leave the block,” The Indian Express said.
I came to the realisation that I would need to exert more effort and be a little more explosive. I therefore went home and worked on its thinking. I added additional clarification, but I didn’t alter my batting in any way, as you mentioned. Early in the innings, I wanted to introduce the explosive aspect. I would absolutely be able to start from ball one if I could do it later. I practiced after that while keeping these ideas in mind,” the left-hander continued.
The gifted young player claimed that he decided to bat with a more upbeat attitude in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) following the 2024 Indian Premier League, and it was a great decision.
“The TNPL was where the notion of being a little more upbeat first emerged. I recall thinking about how we should play the following season and what I could do to improve my batting even before the IPL season ended. I certainly thought about ways to make my batting more interesting. I was curious to see how it might affect my game. The attitude needed to shift. Although the TNPL didn’t start off well, I was able to observe the difference by the end. “You don’t know the ceiling you can reach unless you put yourself through that grind and test yourself,” Sai Sudharsan adds.
