In the most recent International Masters League (IML) 2025 final, Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar made history with his famous uppercut shot. Reminiscent of his iconic uppercut six against Shoaib Akhtar in the 2003 World Cup, the legendary batter led the India Masters against the West Indies Masters in Raipur, showcasing his hallmark smashes.
When Sachin Tendulkar faced Jerome Taylor in the last over of the powerplay, the incident occurred.
The Indian hitter hit a shot that looked like an upper cut in the fourth delivery of the over, sailing past the short third man and racing to the boundary.
But the West Indian pacer produced a short, wide delivery in the very next delivery, and the experienced batsman hit a six with an uppercut that crossed the third-man boundary. His famous stroke off Shoaib Akhtar at Centurion during the 2003 World Cup was much the same as this one. Despite his final dismissal for 25 off 18 balls, his short innings gave the chase a strong start.

India Masters easily defeated West Indies Masters by six wickets in the thrilling final of the first IML tournament. India chased down the goal in 17.1 overs after limiting the Caribbean team to 148/7. Ambati Rayudu won Player of the Match after being the standout player with a game-winning 74 from 50 balls.
The West Indies lost the match as Rayudu hit nine boundaries and three sixes. Stuart Binny’s undefeated 16 off 9 balls won the victory, but the Caribbean team had some hope after his departure in the 15th over.
