IND vs ENG 2025: Ryan ten Doeschate provides major update on Rinku Singh's injury status ahead of 4th T20I

Rinku Singh should be available to play in the fourth T20I on Friday, January 31 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, according to Ryan Ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach, who made this announcement during the pre-match press conference. India leads the five-match series by an interesting margin of 2-1.

While fielding in the first Twenty20 International in Kolkata, the left-handed hitter suffered a lower back spasm. Rinku would miss the second and third Twenty20 Internationals because of his back condition, according to a statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) before to the second T20I. The Uttar Pradesh batsman appears to be fully recovered and will return to the starting lineup for the fourth Twenty20 International.

“Rinku is in good health. He participated in the first game but missed the next two due to injury. However, as soon as Rinku is a good fit, I think he returns. Ryan ten Doeschate stated at a pre-match news conference prior to the fourth Twenty20 International that “he batted the other night and I think he’ll be ready to go tomorrow” (via News18).

In the last two games, Rinku’s batsmanship has been missed by India, and that wouldn’t be incorrect. Tilak Varma’s determined half-century helped India win the second Twenty20 International, but Rinku’s propensity to finish games may have made his job simpler. Additionally, the Men in Blue lost by 26 runs in the third Twenty20 International after failing to chase down a target of 172 runs. Rinku may have been a huge asset to the Suryakumar Yadav-led team at the tail of the run-chase.

Want to give guys adequate time to demonstrate their skills? Ryan ten Doeschate

After the all-rounders in the third Twenty20 International, India sent Dhruv Jurel at number eight. Parthiv Patel and Kevin Pietersen, two former cricket players, criticized India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir for being overly fixated on the left-hand-right-hand combination. The maneuver has been a recurring theme for Gambhir’s teams throughout the years, according to ten Doeschate, who defended it. The team management wants to offer the players a long rope so they have many chances to showcase their skills, the former Netherlands all-rounder added.

We don’t want Dhruv Jurel to bat at number eight, you could say. However, I also believe that Gambhir’s preferred setup is evident in the blueprints of every side he has managed since he began coaching T20 cricket,” the assistant coach stated.

As I mentioned before, Dhruv arrived at 8 the other night, so I don’t think we saw his best side. But in our opinion, it plays a significant role in strategy in these games. Once more, to reiterate what I said, we want to give them ample time to demonstrate their abilities because we think that in the medium to long term, they will do so,” he continued.
