According to Dishant Yagnik, assistant coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), the team prioritises nurturing young players and turning them into superstars. After losing to the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 100 runs on May 1 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, RR is no longer in the running for a postseason berth.
The assistant coach acknowledged that the players who entered the camp were not star players, but after doing well in the IPL, they either became one or are on the route to become one.
“We will turn the players we have on the team into stars,” Dishant Yagnik stated during the press conference held after the game.
You make a really good point in your query regarding the players. Every time a new player joins, they are transformed into stars even though they are not yet. “Last year, the players we had weren’t stars when they joined the team, but they turned into stars.”
“This is our tagline: we create superstars, not buy them,” he continued.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a 14-year-old opener, recently made history by smashing a century off of 35 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT). Yagnik admitted that after the brilliant century, the crowd was ecstatic and that players like him go on to become famous. The coach highlighted that rather than focussing solely on big players, the team will try to recruit and develop young players.
“Look at Vaibhav Suryavanshi. When he was batting (against Gujarat Titans during his 37-ball 101), everyone was cheering him on. “We believe that these guys will become stars in the future,” Yagnik added, and the entire crowd was beaming.
On Sunday, May 4 at 3:30 p.m., RR will play the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
