Due to a wrist injury, Rovman Powell will not be participating in the current Twenty20 International series against Pakistan. The 32-year-old middle-order batsman will not have a substitute named by Cricket West Indies.
Rovman Powell reached out to make a catch during the fourth of the five Twenty20 Internationals against Australia.
He missed the first and second games of the current series, as well as the last game of that series. The Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill will host the third Twenty20 International in the current series. Following that, they will go to Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago, to play the three-match ODI series. Powell is unlikely to play in the forthcoming ODI series, given he last played for the West Indies in July 2023.
After the Windies won the second match by a slim margin of two wickets, the current Twenty20 International series against the squad captained by Salman Ali Agha is tied at one. Jason Holder helped his team win with an all-around performance with the bat (16* off 10) and the ball (4/19 in four overs). During Pakistan’s innings, in which they scored 133 runs at a cost of nine wickets, he also made a few catches.
In the last over, Shaheen Shah Afridi had to defend eight. In his first five balls, he gave up just five, including Romario Shepherd’s wicket (15 off 11). Holder shuffled across and swiped the entire delivery through the fielders at square leg and fine leg, knowing that three runs were needed off the last ball. West Indies had lost six consecutive Twenty20 Internationals prior to the match, which ended their perilous run of form in the format.
