In red-ball cricket, Joe Root has been playing at a great level, particularly over the past three years, when his Test average has above 60. In Test cricket, he is second only to the great Sachin Tendulkar in terms of runs. But in his remarkable career, Root has yet to achieve an international century on Australian soil.
Root will have an opportunity to put an end to the drought when the Ashes is played in Australia in 2025–2026. In Perth, the first Test begins on November 21. Root thinks he has a good chance of getting his first century in Australia ahead of the high-stress series since he is no longer responsible for leading the team and has accumulated experience playing in Australia.
“Compared to my last time out there, I feel like I’ve changed. You want to make lifelong moments with your teammates to cherish. I’ll reach my own goals if I’m fulfilling my team job. Win that urn back is the primary goal, not the main focus. “It’s been a while since we had it,” Root said.
Root also considered the strength of the current England team. The Sheffield native believes that England’s youthful and experienced balance will help them succeed in Australia.
I believe we have some powerful tools at our disposal to attack Australia. If I score a lot, it gives us a great chance, so hopefully we can get that right,” he remarked.
