At the close of the opening day of the third Test of the current five-match series between England and India, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and ace batter Joe Root shared a humorous moment. This occurred on the fourth ball of the last over of the day’s action at London’s famous Lord’s cricket ground.
Root punched Akash Deep’s back-of-a-length delivery off the back foot, sending it backward point in Jadeja’s direction for a single. Root was persuaded to try the second run to get the hundred by Jadeja’s fielding of the ball at deep backward point. The 35-year-old, however, denied the opportunity, indicating that it would not be simple at all given his rocket throw.
Root came within one run of reaching his 37th Test century with this.
In addition to the gestures, he tested Root by dropping the ball on the ground. The former English captain, however, was beaming broadly as he fought the want to go for the additional sprint. On the opposite end, he became stranded near Stumps on 99. On the second day of the Test, Root will now have a chance to reach the benchmark.
