‘Rohit’s Replacement?’ – Mohammad Kaif on India Star vs Pakistan

Mohammed Kaif, a former cricket player from India, has praised Suryakumar Yadav, the country’s T20I captain, saying he is the best person to replace Rohit Sharma in the shortest format. India’s seamless transition to T20 cricket following the retirement of legends Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, according to Kaif, has been fuelled by a fearless new batting core and a skipper who exemplifies the team’s aggressive style of play.

After winning the World Cup in Barbados last year, Rohit concluded his T20I career with an outstanding record as captain.

Suryakumar, who took over as captain of India full-time, has had an equally outstanding start. Under his direction, the Men in Blue have participated in 23 games and won 19, demonstrating his tactical prowess and capacity to motivate the group under duress.

“With the bat, he [Suryakumar] hit the game-winning blow, remained undefeated, and his responses to the media demonstrated his ability as a captain.” responsibilities that must be fulfilled on the day. In the crucial match between India and Pakistan, he proved to be a true leader in a fair manner. So, I have no reason to doubt that he is a suitable captain to succeed Rohit Sharma. Kaif stated in an Instagram post that “his bat always does the talking,” referring to the way he smiles while speaking.

In the most recent match against Pakistan, Kaif also praised Suryakumar’s clever deployment of all-rounders Abhishek Sharma and Hardik Pandya. With the support of both players’ accurate deployments at key times, India won easily and advanced to the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four stage. Kaif underlined that Suryakumar’s increasing leadership maturity is demonstrated by his proactive decision-making.

“Captainship is excellent. Abhishek Sharma bowls one or two overs in the middle, while Hardik Pandya bowls with the new ball. He has handled everything properly. He has won 20 [really 19 matches, excluding a tie] games and led in 24 as captain. He is definitely headed towards being a great leader, Kaif continued.
