Rohit, Virat, and their teammates arrive in Colombo for the ODI series against Sri Lanka

Star batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are among the six players who were left out of the squad, and they have landed in Colombo with one game left in the first leg of the trip.

Not just Rohit, who travelled from the United States to Sri Lanka, was among the squad members that arrived at the ITC Ratnadipa Hotel in Colombo on Sunday evening. The skipper of the ODI team was on a private visit to the USA.

The ODI team will hold a net practise at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Monday, according to sources from Sri Lanka. The other players of the ODI team, who are presently playing Twenty20 cricket, will be joining Rohit and company when the third and final Twenty20 match ends on July 30 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. After a pair of impressive performances, the tourists have already taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match Twenty20 International series.

August 2 marks the start of the ODI series, with all three games set to take place in the nation’s capital. After the second ODI on August 4, the series will conclude on August 7.

Recently, Gambhir said that the management of the team will evaluate the coaching staff during the six-match tour of Sri Lanka, with plans to appoint a full-time coaching staff for upcoming series. Sairaj Bahutule, a spin bowling specialist who is now acting as an interim bowling coach for the Sri Lankan tour, may or may not continue in this capacity. Because Morne Morkel, who is expected to be involved from the start of the series against Bangladesh, is known more for his fast bowling than his spin, the team might need a spin bowling coach.

In the event that Bahutule stays in his job, the coaching team would be made up of Gambhir as head coach, two assistant coaches (Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate), a bowling coach (Morkel), a fielding coach (T. Dilip), and a spin bowling coach. Six coaches would be left as a result of this.
