After spending a lot of time in the gym with Rohit Sharma, former Indian cricket player and former Indian team assistant coach Abhishek Nayar recently disclosed the true purpose of Sharma’s three-month intense training regimen. In order to get fitter for the forthcoming ODI series against Australia, Rohit spent the whole off-season.
According to Nayar, the purpose of their time together was to improve Rohit Sharma physical condition.
Additionally, he alluded to the criticism Rohit Sharma was receiving for not being the most fit player in the league.
Since we had time, it was more important to focus on growth than maintenance—growth in terms of his movements, appearance in front of the mirror, self-perception, and physical structure. In addition, he felt more fit and confident that he could move more quickly on the field—even when holding the bat. The focus of the 12 weeks was mostly on changing how people perceived him. Speaking on “Follow The Blues,” Nayar said, “There was a lot of discussion about him gaining weight and a few pictures of him leaving the airport.”
In the forthcoming series against Australia, Nayar also foresaw Rohit’s strategy. He anticipates Rohit will be playing at his best for the nation and winning matches as always.
“I believe that he will view this series as another chance to represent India with pride, make an impression, carry out his good performance from previous years, and influence the Indian squad. The way he plays for this team and his teammates will remain the same whether he is captain or not. Making an impression, winning games for Team India, and remaining Rohit Sharma are, in my opinion, his immediate objectives.
On Sunday, October 19, India’s visit of Australia will begin. Shubman Gill will captain the 50-over team for the Men in Blue.
