Rohit Sharma, when asked about the difficulty of having to choose between Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer for one-day internationals, said, "Great Headache..."

It has been made quite apparent by Rohit Sharma that form is crucial, but the format is also important. Therefore, without identifying anyone specifically, he gave the impression that Shreyas Iyer will be included in the playing XI for the first one-day international that will take place against Sri Lanka in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Those guys who have shown promise will be given another chance. That is the simplest explanation possible. When we compare guys who are excelling in different forms, it might be challenging at times.

I am familiar with the structure. “Both the form and the format are quite crucial,” Rohit stated during a news conference.

Suryakumar Yadav single-handedly led India to victory in the third and final Twenty20 International match, which took place in Rajkot, by smashing a score of 112 not out off of 51 balls. This victory gave India a 2-1 lead in the series. Rohit emphasised that it is critical to avoid “mixing up” the two different white ball formats.

“Listen, I believe that having a headache (option between Surya and Shreyas) is better than not having a headache at all. To tell you the truth, we are going to examine the performance of the guys who have been really successful.

“The trouble arises when we start comparing various codecs to various formats,” he explained.

“ODI is a different format, slightly longer than T20I and we are very clear that the guys who have done well will definitely get the opportunities,” the skipper’s vote seemed to be in favour of Shreyas, who has two tonnes and 14 fifties from 39 ODIs at a strike-rate of 96. “ODI is a different format, slightly longer than T20I and we are very clear that the guys who have done well will definitely get the opportunities,”

“It is pretty evident to us that we are going to give opportunities to the men who have done exceptionally well.”

As we move forward and play these six one-day internationals, that is exactly what is going to happen. The men who are succeeding will have a lot of opportunities presented to them as well.

All of those players who have scored runs under the challenging conditions will be rewarded, according to Rohit.

“We will need to look at who has performed well for us in the One-Day International format, and in what situations they have performed well for us in the past.

They have been put under duress, yet they have still managed to score runs. Everything that needs to be taken into consideration before we decide anything.

Before we make that decision, one of the things we are going to do is make an attempt to summarise everything that has occurred over the course of the past eighteen to nineteen months.

Before departing for their separate IPL teams, India’s cricketers will compete in nine of the 15 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) that are on the schedule at their home stadium in the next three months. These matches will be played against Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Australia in threes.

In addition, before to the World Cup, India is scheduled to play three one-day international matches against Australia at home, as well as tour the West Indies.

The Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in September, although the location of the competition has not yet been determined.
