Rohit Sharma said before the World Cup opener that Shubman Gill had not yet been ruled out.

I feel bad for Shubman Gill since he is ill. I'm hoping for his health. Not as captain, but first as a human. He is a young boy with a healthy body, and Rohit predicted that he will recover.

The situation of star opener Shubman Gill, who is now suffering dengue fever, has been clarified by Indian wicketkeeper Rohit Sharma. Concerns have been raised over Gill’s capacity to play in India’s opening match against Australia in Chennai on Sunday, October 8.

The anchor of the Indian batting order is Gill, who has been in outstanding form in 2023, especially in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), scoring an astounding 1230 runs and recording five magnificent hundreds. The possibility of his disappearance hangs menacingly, leaving the Men in Blue in the dark. Rohit, however, reiterated that the 24-year-old’s health came before any quick comeback to the field.

“Gill is not feeling well, so please give him an opportunity to let me know how he is doing. not yet disregarded. Shubman Gill is ill, and I am sorry for him. I’m hoping for his health. Not as captain, but first as a human. He is a young lad with a healthy body, and Rohit was adamant that he would recover.

Rohit Sharma discusses the locker room atmosphere before the World Cup start.

The India skipper expressed optimism about the team’s morale while the cricketing community impatiently awaits Gill’s health report. The Indian captain stated, “The Indian camp is buzzing with excitement and determination as they set their sights on ending their World Cup drought.”

The camp is in a great mood. As it will be prior to the start of every competition. Very assured in terms of ability. I’m excited about the game,” Rohit Sharma said.

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, gave an update earlier and said Shubman’s health has been improving. He also noted that the medical staff must continuously monitor his status over the course of a critical 36-hour timeframe. Dravid claimed that the medical staff has not yet eliminated the India opener from consideration when asked about his prospective presence in the starting eleven.
