Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, broke the records of Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, and Kapil Dev in the ODI World Cup by scoring a century against Afghanistan. Sharma sits at the top of the standings with this century, which is his eighth of the competition. He had previously been tied with Sachin Tendulkar for the most hundreds with six, but he played an outstanding century against Afghanistan to reach this landmark.

The previous holder of this mark was Kapil Dev, who completed a World Cup century in just 72 balls. The illustrious Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is in second place with six centuries, followed by the former captain of Sri Lanka, Kumar Sangakkara, with five centuries. Ricky Ponting, a former Australian captain, and David Warner, an Australian opener, are now in fourth and fifth place in the ICC World Cup with five and four centuries, respectively.
India, who was chasing a 273-run mark, got off to a great start against Afghanistan. Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma scored 156 runs together in their opening stand. Ishan Kishan was removed for 47 by spinner Rashid Khan, cutting his innings short of the fifty-run mark.
