Rohit Sharma’s name should be changed to ‘No strike Sharma’: Krishnamachari Srikkanth

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma, captain of the Mumbai Indians, is presently going through a dry spell. Recently, he was dismissed without scoring in two consecutive encounters. The 36-year-old has scored just 184 runs in ten matches thus far, as Mumbai continue to struggle to reach the top four in the ongoing IPL 2023.

Notably, in their most recent match against the Chennai Super Kings, Rohit batted at number three, but even that strategy failed as Deepak Chahar sent him back to the pavilion in the third over. The Mumbai-born cricketer attempted a sweep but mistimed it, resulting in an easy catch for Ravindra Jadeja. In doing so, Rohit recorded his third blank of the season.

During commentary, former India batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth referred to Rohit as ‘No Hit Sharma’ when discussing his performance in the game against CSK at Chepauk. The 63-year-old went on to say that if he had been the captain of the five-time champions, he wouldn’t have even featured him in the starting lineup.

“Not Hit Sharma” Rohit Sharma should alter his name to ‘NO HIT SHARMA’; if I were MI’s captain, I wouldn’t even play him in the XI.

CSK wins by six wickets against MI.
The Mumbai Indians were only able to score 139 runs after 20 overs due to their veteran batsmen’s weak performance. Nehal Wadhera, who is in excellent form this season, once again played a spectacular inning, scoring 64 runs off 51 balls to help MI post a respectable total.

Matheesha Pathirana took three wickets with the ball, while Chahar and Tushar Deshpande each took two wickets. The two-wicket haul assisted Tushar, who presently possesses the IPL Purple Cap as a prized possession.

When it came time for the pursuit, Devon Conway (44 runs off 42 deliveries) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (30 runs off 16 deliveries) once again provided a strong beginning. CSK won the match by six wickets after Shivam Dube played a scintillating cameo of 26* runs off 18 deliveries.
