In the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-finals on Thursday, June 27, Rohit Sharma was in devastating form against England. He hammered his second straight half-century and third overall at the highly anticipated tournament.
Rohit Sharma carried on his blitzkrieg at Providence Stadium in Guyana against the seasoned England bowling lineup, following an incredible 41-ball 92 in the previous game against Australia. With just 39 balls, the right-handed hitter scored 57 runs off of six fours and two sixes. Against Liam Livingstone, the final ball of the eleventh over produced the first of his two sixes. This maximum has a special backstory, and the film illustrating it has gained a great deal of praise on social media.
Against the set duo of Rohit and Suryakumar Yadav, Livingstone gave up just three runs in the opening five balls. Before the final ball was bowled, Rohit was heard on the stump mic informing his teammate from Mumbai that if Livingstone pitched up to him, he would go for a massive hit. The Indian captain didn’t need a second invitation after the England all-rounder delivered a reasonably full ball, hitting him for a massive six over long-on.
