India’s former captain, Rohit Sharma, was in Mumbai last week for the 27th CEAT Cricket Rating Awards. The 38-year-old attracted a lot of attention from admirers because of his altered physical attributes, which included being more toned and fit than before. Rohit Sharma was praised for his thoughtful gesture at the event, which went viral on social media, in addition to his physical transformation.
Throughout the evening, Rohit Sharma appeared to be having fun with Ritika Sajdeh as company. Instead of holding the CEAT JioStar Award or setting it on a table, ODI vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, who was seated next to them, went back to his seat and placed the keepsake on the floor beside him.
Rohit soon noticed the trophy next to Iyer’s feet. The opening batter placed it on a nearby table after surreptitiously picking it up, a move that has garnered a lot of social media appreciation.
Every time they play us, Australia presents a new challenge: Rohit Sharma
Rohit is scheduled to return to international cricket on October 19 for the three-match ODI series against Australia. The Nagpur native last played for India against New Zealand in the 2025 Champions Trophy final.
It’s fun to play against them. Australia is a place I adore visiting. It’s a very difficult country to play cricket in. “The game is also very popular there,” Rohit remarked on the sidelines of the event.
Australia presents a unique challenge each time they play us. I do know what to expect because I’ve been there a few times already. With any luck, we’ll be able to go there, follow the Indian team’s instructions, and win,” he continued.
Rohit will have a big task ahead of him, especially since he was fired as India’s ODI captain earlier this month. The fact that the gifted Yashasvi Jaiswal was selected as the squad’s backup opener would put pressure on him. Rohit and Shubman Gill, the recently named captain, will bat first.
