Rohit Sharma has revealed that one-day international opener Ishan Kishan will be batting in a new position against New Zealand

Ishan Kishan, who did not participate in the one-day international series that Sri Lanka played against Bangladesh despite scoring a double century in his most recent ODI innings, will be accommodated in the middle-order for the first one-day international that India plays against New Zealand on Wednesday. This was confirmed by India captain Rohit Sharma on Tuesday.

“Kishan will be batting in the middle order,” the commentator explained, “and I am delighted he could get a run here after that magnificent performance in Bangladesh.”

In the match against Sri Lanka, India’s favoured fast bowling trio consisted of Mohammad Siraj, Mohammad Shami, and Umran Malik. When Yuzvendra Chahal, a leggie, is added to the playing eleven, the tail appears to be much longer.

According to Rohit, Shardul Thakur has been re-added to the team in order to address this problem; nonetheless, this is still one of the areas in which the team needs to improve before the World Cup.

When asked about fielding seven batsmen and four specialist bowlers, he responded, “I don’t want to compromise on anything honestly.” This was in response to the question.

“At the end of the day, you want to play the eleven players who are at the top of their game. Someone who can bat at that stage is going to present a challenge for us when we get to the eighth and ninth positions. That is why we decided to get Shardul on board; he can provide us with the advantage we need to go up to number eight.

“This is one area in which we could face difficulties if we lost wickets early on or in the midst of our batting order.” You could be worried about it.

Having said that, if you have seven good batters who are capable of doing the job for us in any given situation, then you can look at other playing combinations.

“We will be playing around India in a variety of different conditions during the World Cup.” It is necessary for us to evaluate everything. If we were to play with three spinners, would that be possible? We are fortunate to have spinners on our team who are also capable hitters, such as Axar, Washy (Sundar), Shahbaz, and Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja).

“Those are the men who can provide us the depth that we are looking for, but not to forget the two great wrist spinners also that we have,” he said, referring to Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. “Not to forget the two quality wrist spinners too that we have,” he added.

Siraj was set to play his first One-Day International on his home field, and Rohit had nothing but praise for the young pacer. According to the captain, Siraj has made significant strides in all aspects of his game over the past two years. Additionally, he was the most effective pacer versus Sri Lanka.

“He is a very significant contributor to our team. In the past two years, he has made significant strides in advancing his line and length. Now we are getting to see his outswing.

Even though his swing was not his strong suit, he showed it off against Sri Lanka. If he can do it with the fresh ball on a consistent basis, it will be incredibly beneficial for the squad.

“He has a much better understanding of his bowling now, which is a significant development in my opinion. He is also aware of the expectations that have been set for him by the squad.

Overall, he has developed into a really capable bowler for our team. We need more bowlers like him because he can take wickets at any stage of the game. We need to manage him and make sure he stays fresh for the World Cup, as well as the following tests against Australia.

In addition, Rohit mentioned that New Zealand will be a significant obstacle for his team.

“It is a fantastic opportunity, but it also presents a great challenge. We have the ability to set goals for ourselves and see what we can accomplish as a group. They are now riding the momentum of a successful series in Pakistan.

“At the same time, it is essential to avoid focusing an excessive amount of attention on the competitors. They are constantly shifting, but the planning and carrying out of your strategy shouldn’t.

The members of the team have been informed of this information. The previous series served as a shining example, and we played brave cricket throughout.”
