'Everyday is a fresh day, every series is a fresh series'- Rohit Sharma exudes optimism ahead of England ODI series

India will play England in a three-match ODI series after dominating the T20I phase of the current white-ball series 4-1. With India leading the first ODI, all eyes will be on senior batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. There are high expectations for the two seasoned players in the lead-up to the Champions Trophy because they have had a poor run with the bat in recent months.

The Indian captain emphasised the value of having hope for the future while also acknowledging the past’s failures.

“The format and time are different. There will inevitably be ups and downs for cricket players, and I have experienced plenty throughout my career. I’m used to this. We are aware that every day is new and that every series is new. At the pre-match news conference, Rohit said, “It’s important that I focus on what is coming up and what lies ahead for me, look to try and start this series on a high,” as reported by India TV.

Avoid passing judgement on players too quickly: Rohit Sharma

In addition, Rohit addressed queries on Mohammed Shami, a right-arm pacer. He praised Shami honestly and cautioned the media against making snap judgements.

It’s been a year and a half since he last played cricket. Don’t pass judgement on players too quickly. He has been playing cricket for the squad for the past ten to twelve years. During the 2023 World Cup, he bowled quite well. “It doesn’t make him a bad bowler if he doesn’t perform as expected in some domestic matches,” he continued.

The three-match series’ opening ODI is set for Thursday, February 6. India is keen to maintain the momentum going into the upcoming games in the coming days.
