Rohit Sharma Encourages U19 Cricketers at CoE

In order to engage with India’s future cricket players, Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma took a break from his preparations for the forthcoming Australia series. The seasoned batter spoke with the Under-19 youngsters and shared his insights during his Saturday visit to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

Rohit Sharma is currently only interested in ODIs, where he has amassed over 11,000 runs and 32 hundreds, after retiring from Tests and T20Is. In the meantime, India’s U19 team just had a great home series against England, drawing the Test matches and winning the ODIs 3-2.

Rohit Sharma has been training hard at the CoE since the three-match ODI series against Australia started on October 19.

Rohit Sharma talked extensively with the young cricket players at the CoE on the value of mental toughness, consistency, and discipline in international cricket. On social media, the BCCI posted highlights from the meeting.

Interestingly, he was observed forming bonds with Mumbai players Sarfaraz Khan and Ayush Mhatre during practice. Additionally, he gave Mhatre a bat, which he described on Instagram as “not just a gift, but an inspiration.”

Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, is ready for the Australia series after passing the BCCI’s fitness tests at the CoE, which included the DXA scan and the Yo-Yo endurance test. Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shubman Gill were among the colleagues who passed the same tests.

In addition, the Nagpur native has amassed 11,168 runs at an average of 48.76 in 273 games in the 50-over format, including 32 hundreds. He has amassed 1,328 runs at an average of over 53 in 30 ODIs against Australia alone, including five hundreds.
