'Should play domestic games' - Rohit Sharma's childhood coach shares advises for India batter

Discussions concerning Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s position in the team have been triggered by his recent difficulties in Test cricket. The seasoned hitter only managed to score 31 runs in five innings across three games in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy tournament against Australia, which was a poor showing. Dinesh Lad, Rohit’s boyhood coach, has offered the Indian captain some guidance during these trying times in response to mounting calls for his resignation.

For a while now, Rohit Sharm’s performance in Test cricket has raised questions. His decision to skip the fifth Test match in Sydney sparked speculation about his future and led to suggestions that he will retire.

Rohit Sharma, however, denied these allegations and stated that he would still play.

Lad, who has coached Rohit since he was a young boy, stood up for the cricket player. Lad requested that the veteran return to play some domestic games in order to go back to his best.

“In my opinion, Rohit Sharma has just two objectives: winning the ODI World Cup and the World Test Championship. He only withdrew from T20 cricket, but he could have retired from all formats if he had wanted to (after winning the T20 World Cup). He wasn’t the only cricket player having trouble scoring runs. According to Lad, who was cited by News18, “He should play one or two domestic games to prepare for Test matches.”

The coach added that batsmen’ mindsets have altered since T20 cricket arrived. He said that everyone applauds the 37-year-old for his leadership when he scores runs, but not when he is in poor form.

The way that hitters think has altered as a result of T20 cricket. He was making solid runs against England last year and is a technically sound cricketer. People refer to Rohit Sharm as the best captain when we win, but when we lose, they claim he lacks captaincy skills,” he continued.
