Rohit Sharma, the Indian ODI captain, was recently seen with his family at the Mumbai airport. For the opening Test of the India vs. England series, many fans have conjectured that the former Indian Test captain may be travelling to Leeds. Along with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira, Rohit was seen carrying his newborn baby Ahaan. His destination is unknown, though.

Rohit Sharma red-ball career came to an end on May 7 when he formally declared his retirement from Test cricket.
Rohit Sharma had a poor run against New Zealand and Australia in 2024 after amassing 400 runs in five Test matches against England at home. His dismissal was mostly due to his inability to guide India to a Test victory in Australia and his meagre 31-run total in five innings. Rohit’s Test exit was made possible by a shift that the board had anticipated, according to sources close to the BCCI.
The right-hander is expected to keep playing for India in the One-Day International format. Rohit, who has amassed 11,168 runs in 273 ODIs, will next be seen in action in August 2025 when India tours Bangladesh. However, it is unclear if Rohit would be at the stadium for any of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy matches, even though he was recently photographed at the airport and there is no information about his journey to the UK.
Indian players are hosted by Virat Kohli at his London residence.
Notably, Virat Kohli, another modern-day great, will not be playing for the Indian squad in the Leeds Test. After an impressive 14-year career, the 36-year-old retired from Test cricket during the 2025 Indian Premier League. Even after retiring, Kohli has maintained a tight relationship with the team.
Days before the Test series began, on June 16, Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma invited Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and a few more players to their London home. However, there is no guarantee that Kohli will be in the stands for any of the series’ games, even though he is in London.
KL Rahul, a star batter, recently said that entering a dressing room without the two iconic batters felt strange. Ahead of his debut Test as captain, new captain Shubman Gill revealed that he had discussed the England series with both Rohit and Kohli during the 2025 Indian Premier League.
