Rohit Sharma reportedly discussed his T20I future during a recent meeting with the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in Delhi, where they also discussed India’s performance at the 2023 ODI World Cup and chose the squad for the South Africa tour. After connecting via Zoom from London, Rohit apparently asked the selectors whether they wanted him to play in the USA and the West Indies in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

A report in Dainik Jagran claims that selectors, head coach Rahul Dravid, secretary Jay Shah, vice president Rajeev Shukla, and treasurer Ashish Shelar, all of whom were present at the meeting, unanimously agreed that Rohit is the best person to captain India in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

They even desired that the captain assume leadership of the Twenty20 international team, starting with the South Africa tour. After a demanding World Cup campaign, he did, however, request a break from the white-ball portion of the tour and will now lead the team in a two-match Test series.
