According to reports, tensions between the two teams have reportedly increased since the Gujarat Titans traded Hardik Pandya to the Mumbai Indians (MI). Pandya’s comeback has also marked the end of Rohit’s ten-year tenure as team captain. The all-around star, who guided the Titans to two straight IPL finals, has been elected captain of the five-time champions.
Unexpectedly, MI coach Mark Boucher recently gave an explanation for the captaincy switch, but it was met with scathing criticism. Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit Sharma’s wife, responded to the coach’s remarks by saying, “There are so many things wrong with this.” According to rumors that circulated on social media, the two cricket players unfollowed each other on Instagram a few days later.
The reports are unclear in the interim because several social media users have expressed differing views. Some individuals from ‘X’ stated that Hardik had ceased following Rohit on Instagram, while others asserted that the two had never followed each other.

Mark Boucher asserts that Pandya’s choice to lead the Mumbai Indians was a calculated decision on the part of the organization. Additionally, he stated that even if it was a cricket choice, Rohit Sharma’s loss of the post shouldn’t have saddened anyone. He continued by complimenting Rohit’s leadership during his time as captain.
“I believe that was just a decision made for cricket. The window to see Hardik return to the playing field was visible. It’s a transitional period for me. Many people in India are unaware that although people there can be quite emotional, you can remove those feelings from the situation. I believe the choice was made more from a cricket perspective, and I do believe it will bring out the best in both Rohit Sharma, the player and the person. Boucher had stated on the Smash Sports podcast, “Just let him go out and enjoy and score some good runs.”
“One thing about Ro (Rohit) that I did notice is that he is an amazing man. He has been captaining the Mumbai Indians for a very long time, and he has performed admirably. He is now the leader of India as well. He’s so busy and hasn’t played well at the bat in a few seasons, but he’s been a good captain, he said. It’s like he comes into a location and all the cameras are focused on him.
