Have enough confidence, faith in the bowling unit: Rohit Sharma ahead of MCG test

With Jasprit Bumrah leading the squad on the pitch, the Indian bowling attack has been inconsistent this season. Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian Test team, was asked about the bowlers’ performances in the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25, where the team appears to be playing inconsistently in Australia.

The crucial Boxing Day Test at the MCG is expected to be a pivotal match for both teams to save the series, which is now level at one. Even if the Indian hitters’ strategy is still heavily criticised, the bowlers have also had some challenges because the Australian hitters have utterly destroyed them in the last two Test matches in Adelaide and Brisbane.

Still, captain Rohit Sharma has remained equally confident in his bowling assault and has commended the bowlers’ mentality in displaying their temperament when the team needs it.

Additionally, he had faith in them to handle the situation at the ‘G for the Boxing Day match.

“As a captain, my message to them is pretty straightforward. Continue running hard and carrying on with your routine. They’ve completed the task before. “They can still accomplish it now,” the Indian skipper stated on Tuesday, December 24.

“Tough days, tough games, and tough series can happen to anyone. Their inability to execute at this level does not, however, imply that they are not competent. They have been unable to obtain those large numbers in these two or three games as a result. But it’s all right. It takes place. However, I trust and believe in them sufficiently. What matters to me is the mindset. And so far on this tour, Siraj has truly demonstrated a fantastic mentality,” he continued.

Numbers of Indian pacers in Australia

Only one Indian bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been reliable throughout the series. In addition to taking the most wickets (21), he has an economy rate of 2.60 and an average of 12.90. In addition to the Ahmedabad native, Mohammed Siraj has a strong average and a few wickets under his belt, but the tourists have struggled with the quick runs he gets off his bowling. To date, no other bowler has stepped up to the plate.
