Rohit-Kohli return not easy: Former all-rounder

Cricketers struggle to return after a hiatus, according to former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. He backed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to go all out against the Kiwis in the three-match ODI series at home.

Vadodara’s BCA Stadium will host the opening ODI. Pathan, a T20 World Cup winner, advised Rohit and Kohli to use their expertise and avoid rust in the ODI series against Michael Bracewell and Co.

No questions about Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli now.

Expect runs in Baroda. Returning from a break is difficult, but these two are seasoned. Irfan Pathan remarked on YouTube that the next ODI will be 6 months after this series.

Rohit and Kohli last played international cricket almost a month ago. The latter won Player of the Series against South Africa, which India won 2-1, after scoring 302 runs in three innings. Rohit scored 146 runs in three innings at 48.67.

Gill’s 2027 ODI World Cup training begins now: Pathan

Injured Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer missed the ODI series against South Africa, therefore KL Rahul led India. Gill and Iyer are back for the three 50-over games against the Black Caps.

Pathan called Punjab batter Gill a talented player despite his recent struggles. The former all-rounder also said Gill’s return will cost Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will have to warm the bench after producing a great century against South Africa in the penultimate ODI.

“Shubman Gill returns from injury and T20I exclusion. The ODI format suits him well. His average has dipped in recent contests, but he’s still a good performer. Jasiwal must sit out now that Gill is in? Unfortunately, he misses out, but the captain returns. Gill’s 2027 ODI World Cup training begins now “Pathan stated.
