Among the best batters that have played for India are Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. In ODI cricket, they are two of the mainstays of the current Indian squad. They demonstrated that their bats can still speak for themselves and help the Men in Blue thrash other teams on Sunday, November 30, during the first ODI between South Africa and India in Ranchi.
As India scored 349/8 in their 50 overs, Rohit produced a crucial fifty while Kohli recorded his 52nd ODI century. India won by 17 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series when South Africa was bowled out for 332 in response.
Kohli’s outstanding innings of 135 from 120 deliveries earned him the Player of the Match title.
Beyond the pitch, Rohit and Kohli have a significant impact on the Indian squad. Indian pacer Harshit Rana gave the young players an explanation of what it means to them to be in the same dressing room as the two cricket legends ahead of the second ODI in Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. The Delhi speedster claimed that Rohit and Kohli’s presence improves the atmosphere in the camp and inspires the team’s younger players to get better.
For me and, of course, the entire team, it’s a huge issue. Before the second ODI against South Africa, Rana spoke on the impact of the senior pair, saying, “If such experienced players stay with you in the field and in the dressing room, then the environment of the team is very good.”
“The entire team is happy, whether they are in the dressing room or off the pitch. Everyone strives to improve oneself because, in their eyes, children are the ones who constantly tell us what we can do better,” he continued.
Temba Bavuma on taking on the Rohit-Kohli duo: “It all just makes the series a lot more exciting.”
Temba Bavuma, the captain of South Africa, stated that his squad is eager to play Rohit and Kohli again. The small cricket player will lead the squad from stand-in skipper Aiden Markram in the second ODI after missing the first.
“It is nothing new; we have already discovered it. We have suffered as a result. However, we have also enjoyed victories over them. In response to Rohit and Kohli, Bavuma stated, “It all just makes the series a lot more exciting.”
