Rohit-Kohli backed for 2027 WC by NZ legend

Tim Southee, a former cricket player from New Zealand, believes that given Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s present form, the Indian management should continue with them. Currently participating in the ODI series against South Africa are Rohit and Kohli, who have already announced their retirement from T20I and Test cricket.

“They prove that age is indeed just a number,” Southee said, highlighting the senior duo’s current form. He also said that Rohit and Virat should make the decision to play in the 2027 World Cup and beyond.

“Kohli is undoubtedly the greatest one-day batsman of all time, so why not if he continues to perform? They are still doing well, as Rohit struck a hundred in the Australia series a few days ago. According to India Today, Tim Southee said, “I think age is just a number as long as they are contributing to the side.”

“I suppose that’s their choice. Why not, if they believe they can still do all the skills needed to play at the best level? He continued, “I think the squad will want Virat Kohli to play if he is available for the one-day World Cup since he is perhaps the best one-day hitter to have ever played the game.

Even though India lost the three-match series 2-1, Rohit won Player of the Series in Australia.

However, when playing South Africa, Kohli has been in incredible form. He will be coming off consecutive hundreds in Ranchi (first ODI) and Raipur (second ODI) going into the series-deciding match on December 6.

In January of next year, the two will play in Men in Blue’s three-match ODI series against New Zealand. On January 11, the 50-over portion of the white-ball series is expected to start. The three games will take place at Rajkot, Indore, and Vadodara.
