Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, calls 'every game important'  ahead of the Bangladesh series

The captain of the Indian side, Rohit Sharma, recently stated that the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh is more than just a practice run for the much awaited Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 matchup with Australia. Interestingly, the show is scheduled to premiere in November of this year.

Rohit Sharma underlined the value of every game and the team’s anticipation in getting off to a great start to the season. The Indian cricket team has 10 matches scheduled that culminate in the BGT, starting with the two-Test series against Bangladesh. But the first speaker stressed the importance of giving the current task top priority.

“Every game is significant; there is no dress rehearsal. No difference where we play. Our goal is to triumph—both in the series and this test. Keeping an eye on the present while avoiding the future. “It’s good to have everyone back and get the season started off strong,” Rohit remarked at the news conference held before the game.

It was crucial to use this little camp in Chennai: Rohit Sharma

With a training camp in Chennai that began one week before to the first Test on September 19, Team India has been getting ready for the forthcoming series. From the first day of camp, all of the important players—including star batsman and 37-year-old Virat Kohli—have been fully involved. Along with that, the captain discussed how certain players had competed in the Duleep Trophy and how others had needed this camp to acclimatise themselves to the rhythms of Test cricket.

“There was a pause. Having a camp is important. Getting this back together on the pitch was fun for all of us. It’s challenging. Less frequent players participated in the Duleep Trophy. For this game and what comes next, we are more than prepared. It was crucial to make good use of this small camp in Chennai,” the Indian skipper continued.

India’s squad for the first Test versus Bangladesh

Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant (WK), Dhruv Jurel (Wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Yash Dayal.
