Rohit Sharma has received plaudits from former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid for helping India win in the white-ball event. The Men in Blue have experienced notable triumphs in their recent white-ball competitions. Dravid disclosed that when he joined the coaching setup in November 2021, Rohit advised him to take a different approach.
We wanted to play a more aggressive style of cricket, which was a major topic of conversation with Rohit from the moment I arrived.
Dravid said, “And we tried, we started right from the beginning because we could see that’s the way the game was evolving and Rohit deserves a lot of credit for it,” in an interview with Breakfast with Champions.
According to the former coach, Rohit wanted to guide the limited-overs setup in a specific direction. Additionally, he discussed how India’s new strategy has altered the terrain of 20-over cricket globally.
In order to steer the team in a specific direction. “I’m happy that we’ve kind of kept going in that direction to the point where I think India’s kind of changing what T20 cricket is like,” he continued. “Play the game in a lot more aggressive and way more positively.”
The Board of Control for Cricket in India named Dravid as India’s coach on November 3, 2021, replacing Ravi Shastri. Following the 2023 World Cup, his tenure as head coach was set to conclude. India finished that tournament as the runner-up.
He did, however, have his contract extended till the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Americas tournament turned out to be coach Dravid’s ideal farewell, as Rohit guided the team to an unforgettable victory.
India’s 2025 Champions Trophy-winning team included many players from Dravid’s ODI system. Dravid’s role in supporting players who ultimately performed well in the 2025 Champions Trophy and Asia Cup is credited by ardent Indian supporters.
