VP Rajiv Shukla and BCCI president Roger Binny will visit Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup.

Roger Binny, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Rajeev Shukla, vice president, will visit Pakistan during the 2023 Asia Cup. Notably, the first goal is to go to the Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan game, which is scheduled to happen on September 5 in Lahore. According to reports, BCCI executives invited PCB authorities, therefore it was decided to send Roger Binny and Rajiv Shukla as India’s representatives.

It’s interesting that the decision was made following a year of conflict between the two boards. When BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced that the Men in Blue wouldn’t be going to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, it caused quite a stir because the PCB responded by saying they wouldn’t be going to the forthcoming ODI World Cup in India. After that, there were more debates before the issue was finally settled. Pakistan confirmed their participation in the World Cup and agreed to the hybrid model of the Asia Cup

The BCCI officials will visit Pakistan for the first time since 2012 at this time. The news was confirmed by a source close to Sportstar, who said that the two will first fly to Sri Lanka to watch the Indian team play before entering Pakistani territory on September 3.

The source said that Roger Binny and Shukla would first visit Sri Lanka to watch the Indian squad compete before crossing the Attari border on September 3 to enter Pakistan.

The source continued, “The PCB had invited BCCI, and as one of the major players in the Asian Cricket Council, and after speaking with the stakeholders, the board determined that the president and the vice-president will be traveling to the neighboring country.

Notably, the match will take place in Sri Lanka on September 2 between the neighboring nations. Prior to that, Indian players are now undergoing training in Alur, Karnataka, while Pakistan is currently playing Afghanistan and has already won the three-match ODI series.
